Spartans LAX Battle Bigger Culver City Squad
James McGoldrick, SCV Gridiron (5/6)
The Santa Clarita Spartans took another road trip to the Westside to face off against a tough opponent in Culver City. Fielding a scrappy squad of dedicated lacrosse players, the Spartans drew first blood and held on to a 1-0 lead deep into the second quarter.
The Culver City team had a full compliment of players who were much bigger and unusually large for a middle school team. However they had to battle the Spartans for every advantage, eventually tying the score before taking a 2-1 lead in the third quarter.
The Spartans led the game with shots on goal and time of possession and forced Culver City to rely on its' senior players to secure the victory. Final score was 5-3 in favor of Culver City.
If you want to see this game game live, Spartans face El Segundo at Saugus HS this Saturday at 6PM. The final game of the season will be a rematch against Pasadena on Saturday, May 17th at Saugus HS, 12N.
