Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation and it is coming to Santa Clarita in 2007. The CIF recognized lacrosse as a high school sport last year and several teams compete throughout the southland. In addition, there are youth programs popping up all over SoCal, from 1000 Oaks to San Diego.
There are a couple of organizations that are continuing their attempts to establish a youth Lacrosse program in the SCV. SCV Lacrosse and i9 Sports both offer lacrosse instruction.
SCV Lacrosse focus' on High School and Middle school age players. Saugus HS currently has a club team coached by SCV Lacrosse's Steve Tyson. Steve is attempting to form other HS programs in the Foothill League.
i9 Sports held a lacrosse camp for kids under 12 last summer and will continue to do so this coming year. Myron Hammond heads up i9 Lacrosse which caters to under 14 age players.
